It kind of seems unnecessary to me. Admittedly, I don't own a cellular phone, use social media, etc., so I might not be the target audience for this kind of thing.

I also preferred websites when they just contained blue underlined hyperlinks, and I thought the original Leaping Lizard MTGO was a good platform.

On top of that, I don't like the Hearthstone experience. There is effectively no chat ability. One thing that makes Magic nice, is that you can chat with your opponent while you play. Usually, you don't say too much, other than 'good luck' and 'good game', but sometimes you meet cool people and it makes the experience considerably better.

It's possible they'll keep chatting around (though they've already made it worse in the newer versions of MTGO than in the first 2 iterations), but I imagine they'll move to that horrible 'emote' system.

Er ... not to be a complete whiner! :)

Hey Jack! I loved the Leaping Lizard MTGO interface too! I still miss sitting at the table with my avatar to join a game. I'm totally willing to see what they can do with this MTG Arena software, and like the idea that they're moving into the free-to-play option to get more of a diverse player community involved with Magic. I'm definitely interested to see what comes of it. Thanks!
